I recently traded in my 2015 Mazda6 iSport for a 2018 Mazda6 Grand Touring. Yesterday I finally got the Android Auto/Apple Car Play upgrade performed at my local Mazda dealership. I am very happy with it. One thing that is a bit disappointing is that the touch screen doesn't work on Android Auto at all, not just when the car is moving. An update of the MZD firmware does not enable new features. It is only bugfixing. So if you have no problems, I would not spend the money & stick with the current version. Exception: If you update and install the new usb hub and 2 new cables for Android Auto/Apple Carplay - this would enable new features -> Android Auto + Apple Carplay. From what ive seen you need to take off the trim from the passenger seat (above the glove box), then take out the covers to the shifter and middle console because you’ll need to see the wiring and replace the usb from 1.0 to 2.0, and you’ll need to update the Mazda’s software.
